Description
Ein Avdat is a canyon in the Zin Valley where desert springs create pools, reeds, and green terraces beneath high limestone cliffs. It is one of the Negev’s clearest examples of how water changes everything.
A visit can include a walk through the canyon, views from above the cliffs, and time to observe the plants and animals that gather around the springs. It can be combined with Sde Boker, Ben-Gurion’s grave, Avdat, or a longer route toward Mitzpe Ramon.
The experience is built around contrast. The dry plateau above and the water below show the hidden systems that make desert life possible, and explain why people, wildlife, and trade routes have always been drawn to the few places where water appears.
