Timna Park is a wide desert valley north of Eilat, known for red mountains, sandstone pillars, ancient copper mines, and striking geological formations. A visit can combine short walks among rock formations with the history of mining, which began here thousands of years ago. Timna can be a scenic stop, an archaeology visit, or part of a longer day around Eilat and the southern Arava. The story of Timna is not simply about beautiful desert rocks.
